I would say it started in New York City Circa 1976 on or around the time of Saturday Night Fever and Disco. I remember most Guidos came from Brooklyn and then invaded Staten Island via the Verrazano Narrows Bridge. Growing up in the 70s Italian kids on S.I. were pretty normal until John Travolta started this new craze! Then everyone wanted to be a "Guido" like Travolta in SNF! We used to invade the NJ shore and Belmar was our spot. The residents did not take kindly to us Bennys, but we just took it in stride and said "fugetaboutit!"

Kids today are no different, the tanning thing is silly and we didn't do all that hair spike and jell scene. We had naturally short hair brushed back and used regular hair spray and quality colognes and we dressed well. 3 piece suits and gold chains and off to the disco!

Guido's are New Yorkers everyone else is a wannabe! But NJGUIDO is aight with me!  Cool
